We are hosting a special session of Camp Congress just for girls ages
6 to 7. Mini Camp Congress for Girls Los Angeles 2020 is an
introduction to the United States political system for young girls.
Camp begins with a lesson on the structure of the U.S. political
system, the process of running for office and voting in the United
States. Each girl will create a platform of issues she cares about
most, create her own campaign poster and record a campaign ad. Camp
will culminate with the girls convening a Congress and passing their
own bill. All girls will serve as members of Congress. To view the

The camp day runs from 8am to 12pm. The camp fee includes all program
materials, GIP logo t-shirt and snacks. All participants will receive

_We will be following the guidance of the following institutions
and/or agencies in making decisions to postpone or cancel
classes/summer camps on our 2020-2021 schedule._
* Local county/district health departments where classes are offered
* Local school boards/districts where classes are offered

* Australian Government Department of Health
_Classroom Protocol_
* If a student is ill the student should remain at home. If a
student becomes ill during class or arrives ill, parents will be
contacted immediately to pick-up the student. The ill student will be
separated from the well students until the student is able to leave.
* Bathroom breaks will be increased allowing students to wash hands
more frequently during class.
* Stations with hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes will be
available for students in each class.
* All classes will be limited to 25 students until further notice.
* All workspaces will be cleaned by GIP/GIB staff with disinfecting
wipes prior to students’ arrivals and after lunch. All poster making
materials will be cleaned with disinfectant prior to class and after
each class.
* Students will be seated in a classroom set-up, allowing each
student ample individual workspace for the duration of class. Hand
shaking will be discouraged.
* Each student will receive pencils, a glue stick, scissors and art
markers for her individual use during class.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
IS THE REGISTRATION FEE REFUNDABLE? The registration fee is
non-refundable unless the GIP cancels a session. If a participant is
unable to attend a session a credit will be placed on file that may be
used at any time for a future session. The credit does not expire.
IS LUNCH PROVIDED? No, lunch is not served. Snacks will be served to
include fresh apples, bananas and granola bars. Breakfast is not
served.
ARE ACCOMMODATIONS MADE FOR ALLERGIES OR DIETARY RESTRICTIONS? A
vegetarian lunch option is available. For participants with
restrictive diets or picky palates we recommend bringing a lunch. No
nuts are allowed in the meeting room. Participants with other dietary
restrictions or allergies should bring lunch and snacks if necessary.
WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE? Participants are encouraged to wear
comfortable clothing. Each participant will receive a GIP logo t-shirt
that may be worn during the session. We carry sizes youth small
through adult medium. Larger sizes are special ordered.
WHERE IS THE SESSION HOSTED? Marriott International Corporation is
our preferred vendor for meeting space. We host meetings at Marriott
brand properties in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom,
Australia and New Zealand.
DO PARENTS ATTEND? The sessions are drop-off sessions and
parents/chaperones may to wait in hotel lobby or any of the lounge
areas of the hotel.
IS THIS A PARTISAN PROGRAM OR SUPPORTED BY A POLITICAL PARTY? No, the
Girls in Politics Initiative is a private company that is self-funded
through the fees generated from hosting sessions.
WHO ARE THE INSTRUCTORS? Our Lead Instructors are women that
currently or have previously worked in government or electoral
politics. Our support staffers are current or former licensed
teachers. Our instructors and support staff have undergone criminal
background checks and have WWC cards in Australia.
