Gold/Advanced Level Swim Team Prior to class start: Swimmers on the Gold level team should be able to swim 100 meters of freestyle, nonstop with bilateral breathing, and perform a flip turn. Swimmers on this team should also be able to complete a 100 IM, comfortably knowing how to perform all four strokes. The primary goals on this team consist of refining stroke technique, building endurance through conditioning, and preparing for competition. Swimmers will be prepared for competition-like settings by working on dives, the proper starting entry for a race, mastering the flip turn, and improving their speed. Race strategy will also be covered to prepare swimmers for a competitive swim league or high school team. Swimmers should already be comfortable with taking direction from the coach who is on the pool deck and not in the water.
