Klezmer group Mostly Kosher and singer-songwriter Gidon headline this
concert, made in partnership with NuRoots, to celebrate and explore
the feelings of liberation and freedom that Pesach inspire. Mostly
Kosher, the acclaimed Klezmer/Rock band, radically reconstructs Judaic
and American cultural music through ravenous klezmer beats and
arresting Yiddish refrains. Its led by frontman Leeav Sofer, and is
comprised of some of the highest regarded Los Angeles musicians:
violinist Janice Mautner Markham, drummer Eric Hagstrom and bassist
Adam Levy. Among their many regional performances, Mostly Kosher had
the honor of being the first Jewish music ensemble at the Disney parks
with eight seasons performing at their 2-month long Festival of
Holidays. Gidon is a songwriter and producer who is currently
germinating his distinct, high-vibe sounds straight out of his own sun
kissed studio on the Californian coast. Specializing in smooth,
authentic grooves enriched to the roots with culture, Gidon manages to
fuse elements of rock, jazz, soul and old-school roots-rock-reggae;
creating a sunny, groove-filled sound that is every bit as soulful as
the Jamaican legends who inspired him. After years spent living in
Jamaica, his upcoming album features collaborations with such
legendary artists as Sly and Robbie and Beres Hammond. This experience
is part of NuRoots tenth Collective Escape festival. Discover the
lineup at nuroots.org/collectiveescape. Please note photography will
