Artist Diedrick Brackens, whose work
Bitter Attendance, Drown Jubilee
(2018) was on view in the Hammer’s
Together in Time
exhibition, shares insights into his textile-based practice. Brackens is renowned for his attention to the material and contextual impact of his work. Weaving together a patchwork of American history, Bracken’s work explores identity in the past, present, and future. After presenting his work, Brackens is joined onstage by curator Erin Christovale for a conversation about Brackens’ work in relation to the Hammer’s contemporary collection and what’s next for the artist.
