Come on out for a community DANCE CELEBRATING THE WINTER SOLSTICE! No
partner necessary; no experience necessary. Gender-free calling.Square
dancing is for everyone! Join us for the solstice square dance with
caller Evie Ladin. This is the darkest time of year: wear gold or
yellow to help bring back the sun! Round Top Stringband plays live
old-time music. The caller teaches each dance right before we dance
it. Kids welcome.
Doors open: 7:45 pm
Square dancing: 8:00-10:00 pm
This is a queer-friendly event where everyone can dance any role. The
caller uses the terms "larks" and "robins" to refer to the two dance
roles of the couple.
BYOB: You may bring beer and wine. No hard alcohol allowed.
Wear dance shoes if you have them! No stiletto heels allowed.
$20 general admission (recommended)
$15 member of Hillside Club or of BACDS
$25 supporter
$6 student or low-income
or pay what you can
We accept cash and venmo at the door.
This is a traditional or old-time square dance (not a modern or club
dance). All dancers are welcome. You are welcome to ask anyone to
dance. If someone asks you to dance, you can always say "yes" or "no."
