The certificate shows that the student has undertaken a comprehensive
range of classes related to care of the patient. Upon completion
graduates will develop the specialized skills and knowledge to become
critical care nurse, and be prepared to recognize and support the
unique characteristics of the critical care patient population.
Requirements for the certification include six classes in the adult
critical care series listed in the course outline. Critical Care
course is intended for the nurse entering the critical care or as a
review for those already working in critical care department. The
course emphases a body system approach incorporating case studies,
pathophysiology of body system as well as a complete section on
ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring will be included. Course
