Run Your Own Race — RBO's 15th Anniversary Fundraiser

 Running for a Better Oakland (RBO), a nonprofit that provides free running programs to K–12 students across Oakland, will celebrate 15 years of serving the city's youth at "Run Your Own Race," an evening FUNDRAISER ON THURSDAY, September 24, 2026, from 6–9 p.m., hosted at GU ENERGY LABS headquarters in BERKELEY.The evening will feature four athletes and leaders whose careers embody the event's theme of going the extra mile: Magda Boulet, 2008 U.S. Olympic Marathoner and President of GU Energy Labs; Alysia Montaño, three-time World Champion and entrepreneur; Cal Calamia, a nonbinary runner, sports activist, and educator; and Zagdaa Baatar, founder of the Nomadic Adventure Club and a 2023 Western States 100 participant. Guests will also hear directly from RBO students about the program's impact on their lives, and the evening includes a live auction supporting the organization's upcoming season.
