The energetic 8-piece band specializes in "jump" and "hot" jazz from the 1910s and '20s, classic pop songs, and familiar standards with smart arrangements and unmistakable flair. Sharing the bill, pianist Jason Moran lends his formidable talents to the music of one of jazz' most charismatic figures, with his riotous Fats Waller Dance Party. Moran reimagines Waller classics like "Ain't Misbehavin'," "Honeysuckle Rose," and "Jitterbug Waltz" with a playful contemporary twist, mixing up Waller's familiar stride piano style with soulful vamps, hip-hop beats, and funk grooves.
