Lake Lunches

Lake LUNCHES IS A FOOD MINISTRY OF LAKE MERRITT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. Serving 90 LUNCHES TWICE A WEEK TO THE HUNGRY AND UNSHELTERED NO QUESTIONS ASKED IN THE AREAS SURROUNDING LAKE MERRITT. Volunteers are needed to assist in preparing & packing LUNCHES AND WALKING THE LAKE AREA NEAR BY TO DISTRIBUTE THE MEALS. We are take extra precautions in light of the COVID-19 spread and are proceeding with services to the unsheltered who rely on these meals twice a week. We have consolidated our meal prep time to Mondays and have set up our stations to incorporate the recommended physically distancing. We are also seeking teams of people who can serve on a weekly basis.  Mondays weekly - 2-4 pm: Lunch preparation, 8 volunteers needed Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly - 11:30 am-1:30 pm: Lake Walk Lunch distribution, 3 volunteers needed Special needs include baking cookies, preparing granola, cooking meats for sandwiches. Food resources are generously sourced through donations and through our partnership with Alameda County Community Food Bank. We also distribute hygiene items and are always seeking donations for this purpose. To learn more, email liftconcertoakland@gmail.com. The concert features and intergenerational collection of musical acts: It's a special community event now it's 6th year and counting!
