In a recent news release, East Bay Media Center announced the Allen Willis Film Series & Scholarship Fund - A series of screenings of films by Berkeley film makers. This series is being held in celebration of Black History Month; proceeds will benefit the Allen willis Scholarship Fund, which pays youth tuitions to the Media Centers popular Teen Media Camps.
The series will begin on Thursday, February 22nd at 7:30 p.m. with the Berkeley Premiere of Pam Uzell's "Welcome to the Neighborhood." A Documentary about the history of South Berkeley and the forces of gentrification that are changing the neighborhood. This film features interviews with Mildred Howard, Ron Dellums, Loni Hancock, Carole Kennerly Davis, Max Anderson, Carl Anthony, Jeff Chang, Margy Wilkinson, Willie phillips, Ying lee, and Roberta Brooks.
