2019 SIERRA MUZZLE LOADERS FALL PRIMITIVE RENDEZVOUS Rate This Event Experience fur trade era life at the 29th Annual SIERRA MUZZLE LOADERS FALL PRIMITIVE RENDEZVOUS ON OCTOBER 17-20, 2019 at the SIERRA MUZZLE LOADERS CLUB SITE IN FORBESTOWN, California. This is a Family Oriented Black Powder Club with Activities for Kids and Adults. The SIERRA MUZZLE LOADERS FALL PRIMITIVE RENDEZVOUS HONORS THE CULTURE OF THE FUR TRADE IN THE AMERICAN WEST BETWEEN 1800 AND 1840, when free fur trappers and company brigades brought the year’s pelts to RENDEZVOUS TO TRADE FOR THE NECESSARIES OF FUR TRAPPING. This is a PRIMITIVE RENDEZVOUS. No flashlights or headlamps. Please keep your camp PRIMITIVE. Visitors are welcome to walk through the SIERRA MUZZLE LOADERS FALL PRIMITIVE RENDEZVOUS ENCAMPMENTS WITH DOZENS OF PRIMITIVE CAMPSITES, to see how the Mountain Men lived, cooked and dressed. Merchants and traders will be selling the goods that Mountain Men needed for trapping beaver and fox and trading with the Native Indians. The Mountain Men and Women will be pleased to share their skills with visitors and welcome all questions. All visitors are welcome at no charge. To stay in the spirit of the Mountain Man RENDEZVOUS IT IS PREFERRED THAT ANYONE VISITING AFTER DUSK BE IN PERIOD DRESS. A “RENDEZVOUS CLOTHES CLOSET” is available for visitors who wish to borrow period clothing. The SIERRA MUZZLE LOADERS FALL PRIMITIVE RENDEZVOUS IS HELD ON THE THIRD WEEKEND IN OCTOBER EACH YEAR, in the mountains near FORBESTOWN, California, on New York Flat Road. Members) * Flint and Steel Fire Making Competition * Period Drink Contest (minimum 1 quart) * Council Campfire (Saturday 7:00 pm): Raffle, Music, Stories * Awards and Raffle (Sunday 11:00 am) Range Rules: * No Smoking Allowed on Range * No Alcohol Allowed on Range * No Greased Patches * No Direct Loading From Powder Horn or Flask * Children Must be Supervised Bring Firewood and Water * Children Must Wear Eye/Ear Protection Ground Rules: * Pack Out all Your Trash and Leave Area Clean * Pets Must be Attached to Leash at all Times * No Flashlights in PRIMITIVE CAMP AREAS * No Cigarette Butts on Ground or Fire Pit * No Cutting of Any Trees/No Chainsaws * Respect Your Fellow Campers * Depending on weather conditions at the time of the RENDEZVOUS, fires may not be allowed. * Updates will be posted on the club website and facebook pages (see links in right coloumn.
