In “BREAKING BOUNDARIES,” mixed media artist Magdalena Bogart and
photographer Michael Endicott agreed to push each other to knock down
any barriers, preconceptions and comfort zones that might possibly
define the art they produce and the ruling paradigms that govern their
media. To seal the deal they are creating art TOGETHER for the show.
They test the nature of using paint versus photographs, the qualities
of abstraction versus realism, and the dynamics of producing art with
two brains instead of one. In fact, for the length of the show they
will also be “creating” art with input from the public who visit
the GALLERY DURING THE SHOW. Come watch and even help them compose.
Their abstract roots will certainly let you create your own stories in
their work. The show runs at GALLERY HOUSE, 320 S. California Ave.,
PALO ALTO, CA from September 17 through October 19, 2019. The public
is invited to a reception with the artists on Friday, September 20
from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It is free to the public and a great time to
share your impressions with the artists and help them make art.
Magdalena Bogart, up until now, has been a mixed media artist with
lively colors and dynamic shapes. For her: “This show is an
incredible opportunity for me to explore, where my artistic drive will
lead me, when I allow myself to feel FREE to do what I feel like doing
with all media and tools. And to trust that it will turn out ok! It
has led to different branches of art-making, not to a cohesive body of
art – as usually expected. That is for me one aspect of BREAKING
BOUNDARIES. To paint or create something which has NOT YET been done
is incredibly hard. I want the assurance/safety of what other artists
I admire have done already. Feeling the ground under my artistic feet
instead of flying into a vacuum and the fear of falling is constantly
present. Until now.” www.magdalenabogartinteriors.com Instagram
@magdalena_bogart Michael Endicott, up until now, has been a
photographer with works that range from realism to surrealism. For
him, “This show reflects the dynamics of being immersed for almost
two years in the culture and artistic influences of my fellow artists
at GALLERY HOUSE. There is no doubt that the composition, colors,
light and lines in the works of my fellow artists have created a big
changes in direction of my work subconsciously. As a highly reactive
artist, I am excited to be teamed with Magdalena, who will challenge
me to work with some “intention” as we create a work together.”
