WARNING: THE TUESDAY NIGHT FITNESS HIKE IS AN AEROBIC, FAST PACED
URBAN HIKE. WE WILL BE MOVING FAST AND WE WON'T BE DOING A LOT OF
WAITING. WE'VE ADDED SOME DISTANCE AND SOME HILLS BEHIND THE WATER
TOWER TO MAKE IT A BIT MORE CHALLENGING. IF YOU FIND YOU ARE HAVING
DIFFICULTY KEEPING UP WITH THE LEADERS IN THE GROUP, PLEASE USE THE
OPT-OUT POINT AT THE FIRST MILE OF THE HIKE AND COME BACK TO SEE US ON
WEDNESDAY NIGHT FOR A MORE MODERATE PACE. THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME
KEEP THIS HIKE AN AEROBIC WORKOUT.NOTE:
The Tuesday Night Fitness Hike is posted on the SCO Calendar every
week. I (Marv) am shown as the host each week, but I might or might
not show up to the event (life got busy). This keeps it on the
calendar for each week, and more often than not a small group of
regular, fit walkers shows up on time every Tuesday night to enjoy
this rigorous walk. So, if you don't see me on the Tuesday night you
are there, you might see me on the next one.
TUESDAY NIGHT FITNESS HIKE, 5+ MILES FAST PACED URBAN HIKE:
The Fitness Hike includes multiple steep uphill portions at the
Petaluma Water Tower.
TUESDAY NIGHT FITNESS HIKE:
- Warning! This is a FAST hike... a real workout!
- 5+ MILES
- Meetup time 6:00pm (We hike at 6:10 sharp)
- Difficulty is STRENUOUS!
- 80 minutes
This is a fast, evening Fitness Hike that starts downtown outside (on
the sidewalk) of Brixx Restaurant on Kentucky Street. We start with a
loop of Downtown Petaluma, then head up B Street to the Water Tower
near Helen Putnam Park and stop to take in the view before winding our
way back down to where we started at Brixx. We generally hike the same
route but do occasionally change it up a little to keep it
interesting.
WHAT TO BRING:
- A good pair of walking shoes
- WATER (you'll be glad you did)
- A fun attitude!
WHAT ABOUT THE DARKNESS?
Bring a SMALL flashlight. The sidewalks can be treacherous in west
Petaluma, and you'll want to see those crags, cracks and upheavals in
the concrete.
SO HOW FAST ARE WE WALKING?
The Wednesday NIGHT WALK IS ABOUT 2.5 mph (24 minute MILES)
The Tuesday Night Fitness Hike nearly 4 mph (15-16 minute miles)
HOW DO YOU PARTICIPATE?
Sign up with Meetup and RSVP Today! This also gets you on our email
list to make you aware of upcoming events, hikes and walks.
WHY DO YOU NEED TO RSVP?
Please take the time to RSVP YES when you plan on attending an event.
When all members that RSVP'd YES have arrived, we can leave. It might
mean we get to leave early. It's equally important to keep your RSVP
up to date. If you've RSVP'd YES for and event, we are going to wait
for you until the departure time. Please don't make us wait for you if
you don't intend to show up.
**If you RSVP YES with a "maybe" comment, that's not a yes and we are
not going to wait for you.
QUESTIONS?
Email me with any questions by using the "Contact Us" link on the left
hand side bar of this meetup group page.
Hope to see you on a walk or hike soon!
