Marine Science Institute Family Events: RWC Ecovoyage - Redwood City, CA 2025

DescriptionEmbark on a Saturday adventure with our public and family style events. The Marine Science Institute offers a variety of engaging activities that connect visitors with the wonders of the San Francisco Bay's marine environment. Participate in educational boat tours, interact with local marine life, and enjoy hands-on science activities designed for all ages. Join us for special events that celebrate the unique biodiversity of our local waters and inspire a deeper appreciation for marine conservation. REDWOOD CITY ECOVOYAGEGet on the water for a 2-hour exploration of the SF Bay aboard our 90-foot research vessel and discover the life in the estuary and how we are connected to it. Working as a team, participants deploy a 16-foot trawl net to bring fishes on board, set a Mud Grab to collect a bottom sample (the benthos) to examine live invertebrates, and lastly observe and discuss live plant and animal plankton using a video microscope.
