Armando Form Improv Comedy Master Class with Patrick Rowland

Join US for an ARMANDO FORM IMPROV CLASS WITH INSTRUCTOR PATRICK ROWLAND, culminating in a CLASS SHOWCASE! If you're looking for a long-form IMPROV COMEDY MASTER CLASS IN SACRAMENTO, this is the CLASS FOR YOU!ABOUT the ARMANDO: The Armando is a form that originated in Chicago where improvisers create scenes based on personal monologues, but it goes deeper than that. In this workshop, Patrick will break down the Armando form and how you as a player can take your performance and monologues to another level. Patrick performed with the "Armando Diaz Experience Theatrical Movement and Hootenanny" for years at iO Chicago, where it originated. WHERE: WJ Geery Theatre, 2130 L St, Sacramento, CA 95816 WHEN: Saturday, August 9th, 2-5 PM. The class will culminate in a one hour showcase at 7 PM on the evening of August 9th at the Geery Theater. He’s studied and taught at The Second City and iO Theater. His solo character work was featured in Alone, Chicago’s Best Solo Comedy at The TBS Just For Laughs Festival in 2013. Austin Comedy Short Film Festival nominated Patrick as Best Supporting Actor for his work in Mr. Mainframe. He is the creator of The Patrick Rowland Sketch Show, a web series he writes produces, directs, and films himself on an iPhone. He is a founding member of 3Peat, a critically acclaimed, award-winning sketch/improv troupe, who has several sketches with Comedy Central's Digital platform, their most successful, The Blackening, garnered over 15 million views, and is currently being made into a feature. Patrick hosted a late-night talk show as former President Barack Obama called Barack All Night. Most recently, he participated in a virtual roundtable for Sony Pictures, which was led by Girls Trip producer and writer Tracy Oliver. Patrick was a writer for The Amber Ruffin Show. IMPORTANT DETAILS: Tuition is nonrefundable. You must be at least 18 to register. Intermediate level improv experience recommended. PARKING: Metered parking and free 2 hour street parking is available near the venue. ACCESSIBILITY and COMFORT: Seats will be provided both onstage and off, and we are happy to accommodate any requests to sit or take additional breaks for those who need them.
