PROJECT-BASED LEARNING 3-DAY WORKSHOPThis three-day summer institute is designed for educators interested in advancing students deeper learning through interdisciplinary, career-pathway aligned Project Based Learning.   Learn about how Brain Exchange Project Based Learning approach to designing high-quality PBLs that will offer voice and choice opportunities, deeper learning, complex driving questions that will lead to real-world connections and hands-on application.  Schools and districts are strongly encouraged to send grade-level teams along with a Career Technical Education teacher.  Teams will leave the institute with a well -developed project design that will engage students through inquiry.  DESCRIPTION _NEW_ Training Presented by Dr. Marguerite Williams, Award Winning Adminstrator 2017 ACSA Award: Marcus Foster Memorial Award for Administrator Excellence Specially Designed for Educators Serving Grades 6-12: Classroom Teachers, Administrators  3-DAY PBL SUMMIT INSTITUTE * Master the core and new skills in implementing PBL * Understand how to create interdisciplinary, career-pathway aligned Project Based Learning * Customize PBL for student voice and choice opportunity, rigor, complex driving questions and real-world application OVER-ARCHING OBJECTIVES * Apply research-based methodologies to your Project Based Learning Units * Learn new ways to design lesson for your students that connect to real-world application * Design PBL Units that allow for voice and choice, deeper learning, and complex driving questions * Implement cognitive behavioral methods to overcome traditional viewpoints * Begin designing a PBL Unit using interdisciplinary approach that addresses work-based learning connections, pathway theme, and pathway outcomes KEY BENEFITS OF ATTENDING * Discover the key components of creating a Project Based Learning environmnet * Get practical tips through the use of a consultancy protocol with other teachers * Reduce behavior issues and increase student engagement during class time * Discover highly effective ways to incorporate their real-world application into learning * Increase student-to-student interaction time through hands-on collaborative projects * Discover powerful, proven techniques to increase classroom interaction and discussion * Discover practical tips for making your content more meaningful and engaging for your students * Design a PBL unit: Identify target standards, create a project scope, pitch your project for consultation * Explore resources and tools with ideas and suggestions ​​PRACTICAL IDEAS AND STRATEGIES Project Based Learning is an effective approach that allows students to research, develop and learn while they learn relevant skills for college, career, and life. In this NEW seminar, Instructional Director, Dr. Marguerite Williams, will provide powerful strategies for successfully integrating PBL in your classroom or school. You will be presented with numerous strategies specifically geared for grades 6-12 learning environments. Dr. Williams will introduce you to PBL templates, and a PBL rubric . Teachers will be able to explore websites with PBL samples and ideas. You will leave this workshop with a wealth of practical ideas and perspectives, increased confidence in meeting the needs of all your students and list of resources of resources that will help you start your PBL journey.
