2020 Leap Year 2.29 Mile*THIS IS A VIRTUAL RACE! We are so excited that it’s Leap Year again! Four years ago we did our first Leap Year race and it was a huge hit! We are so excited to be doing it again! Did you know that February 29, Leap Day, is also Rare Disease Day?  To help bring awareness we are devoting our Leap Year Race to the National Organization for Rare Diseases. [http://rarediseases.org/] According to their website, “Every day in America, 30 million people wake up to fight the battle with a rare disease. The vast majority are children. For most, there are no cures and few, if any, proven and effective treatments.  NORD provides a unified voice for those courageous individuals, and the parents and other caregivers seeking to help them, so that they won’t have to fight that battle alone.” *For a limited time you can purchase a shirt and/or hoodie HERE! You choose to complete 2.29 miles in honor of Leap Day, which falls on 2.29.2020.  You complete your race on your own and submit your time to us.  Then we ship your medal directly to you. When: Complete your race on LEAP DAY, or any time during the month of February. *Medals will be shipped out at the end of January 2020. Where:  You choose the course and you time yourself (you’ll report your finishing time to us). Why:  To raise awareness for rare diseases!    COST:  $22, which includes your medal, bib and shipping.  Plus, at least 15% of every registration will go to the National Organization for Rare Diseases. *We are in no way affiliated with this charity, we like to choose a different charity for each of our races and are happy to raise funds for them.   WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RACE? A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked)  from any location you choose.  You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself.  And your medal will be shipped directly to you.
