Maybe you wish you could code a bit yourself? Stop wasting another minute on lengthy online video training and get hands-on, 1:1 instructor led training with this 2-day bootcamp. Designed for beginners, this bootcamp will help non-programmers communicate more efficiently with developers or help aspiring developers get started. Day One Developer Fundamentals You will be introduced to a broad overview of programming and get exposure to a typical coding workflow through the lens of front-end development using HTML and CSS. You will turn a provided design into a deployable site coded with current best practices. Speak in Tech: What is programming? What can you build with various languages? What is web development? The difference between a web site and web app Stages of web development The difference between front-end and back-end web development What are common programming concepts? HTML Basics: Setting up a development environment on your computer Use the basic content tags (headings, images, links, paragraphs) Create different sections in your website (layout) CSS Basics: Basic styling properties and how to connect with HTML Selectors and how to style different sections of a site Day Two JavaScript and Advanced Concepts You will deploy a site you've created to Github Pages and will learn how software development teams collaborate using git workflow and tools like GitHub. The rest of the day you will explore the JavaScript language. You will first pseudo-code a simple application and then work through different parts of its JavaScript implementation. You will use concepts such as variables and functions to make a simple interactive web application. We will also talk about how to incorporate interactive elements into a site you would create for General Assembly's Web Development Immersive admissions assessment. Programming with JavaScript: Programmatic thinking Pseudocode Data types Variables Functions Interact HTML/CSS using JavaScript Examine and interact with a JavaScript back-end web server created with Express You will also learn: Git workflow, Github, and publishing a site using Github pages Preparation Bring along a laptop and please install the following free software before class: Microsoft Visual Studio Code Google Chrome Sublime Text downloaded
