THIS SESSION'S THEME: "THE ART OF THE STILL LIFE"
Artists of ALL skill levels: come join us and learn the steps in
creating a dramatic still life through drawing and painting. Achieve
correct perspective, bring out shadows, highlights, and texture, and
experiment with compositional elements.
Still life painting is a very popular genre that has been important in
Western culture since the 16th century. It is defined as a
two-dimensional artwork that depicts inanimate objects, or objects
that do not move.
This class moves at each student’s pace and skill. We will be
working from photo references as well as directly from setups in the
classroom.
What you'll learn:
• how to choose your location
• how to adjust the lighting
• considering your background setting
• deciding on a surface
• how to choose your objects
• how to arrange objects in interesting ways
…and much more!
