A film lecture on 1960s ITALIAN COMEDIES AND SPECIAL CARNEVALE SWEETS
San Diego Italian Film Festival and Italian Cultural Center present a
lecture on Pietro Germi, his comedies, and Italy in the 1960s. The
lecture will be taught by Antonio Iannotta, PhD, Artistic Director of
SDIFF and professor of Italian at USD.
Given that Italy is celebrating Carnival at this time, we will offer
special Carnevale Sweets (frappe + castagnole) by Marco Blasi Chef
Catering.
ANTONIO IANNOTTA holds a Dottorato di ricerca (PhD) in Communication &
Media Studies from the University of Salerno (Italy). Professor
Iannotta has published articles and book chapters on film, TV series,
literature, comics, and theory of media, as well as the books _Lo
sguardo sottratto_, _Samuel Beckett e i media_ (Napoli, 2006), _Il
cinema audiotattile_, and _Suono e immagine nell'esperienza filmica_
(Milano, 2017). His current research examines the Italian modern
cinema, from Neorealism to the beginning of the Dolby Era, from the
perspective of cinema sound. He is Adjunct Associate Professor of
Italian at University of San Diego and the Artistic Director of the
San Diego Italian Film Festival.
