Four Barrel Coffee is pleased to present _Core Samples _by Mark
Johnsen. Inspired by the natural composition of human made geological
core samples, artist Mark Johnsen’s latest series of prints portrays
a close examination of their geological wonder and the sites from
which they were excavated.Mark Johnsen (b. 1986, San Diego, CA) is a
printmaker living in Northern California. He draws inspiration from
childhood fishing trips to the Eastern Sierras and is fascinated by
the intersection of natural elements. By using the Monotype process,
he works reductively to shape and wipe away extra information to
reveal a clearer image. Much like his memories, the process caters to
the images that are produced. Mark holds a degree in Photography from
California College of the Arts (2012) and has lead workshops and
exhibited domestically as well as the U.K., Istanbul, Canada, New
Zealand, and Japan.
Join us on Friday, August 11th from 6-8pm for the opening reception of
this exhibition. Drinks will be served and the artist will be in
attendance.
