EXPANDED COLLAGE (ONLINE)

6:00pm-8:00pm, ONLINE, $195Take your collage work to the next level by
experimenting with scale, digital reproduction methods, moving
image/video/film, and three-dimensional space. Additionally, students
will be encouraged to play with large-format paper, mixed media,
video, and installation. Lectures will also investigate the historical
origins of collage as well as contemporary practitioners using
assemblage as a primary visual language. Some collaging materials will
be provided by the instructor, although students will also be expected
to collect their own.

CONNIE ZHENG is an interdisciplinary artist, writer and experimental
filmmaker who was born in China and is currently based out of Oakland,
California. Her work is interested in developing new language around
ecological apocalypse, diasporic place-making, and the political
potentials enabled by fantasy as a means of community-building amidst
climate change. She has presented scholarly work at the San Francisco
Museum of Modern Art and exhibited her visual work around the U.S.,
including the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, the
Minnesota Street Project (San Francisco), and AIR Gallery (New York).
She is currently a Graduate Fellow at the Headlands Center for the
Arts and has also been awarded residencies and fellowships from the
Vermont Studio Center (Wolf Kahn and Emily Mason Painting fellowship)
and ACRE. Her writing has appeared on SFMOMA's Open Space platform and
in Art Practical and the Journal of Urban Cultural Studies. She
received an MFA in Art Practice from UC Berkeley and BAs in Economics
and English (Creative Nonfiction) from Brown University.

first class session so you can get started making right

What are my transport/parking options getting to SAN FRANCISCO ART
INSTITUTE?
All classes, unless otherwise noted, meet at 800 Chestnut Street,
between Jones and Leavenworth. You can find directions to campus on

SFAI is located in a residential neighborhood, and free two-hour
parking is available on all of the streets immediately surrounding the
school. The two-hour restriction cuts off at 9 pm, so evening Public
Education students do not need to move their car, unless you arrive
prior to 7 pm.
SFAI is easily accessible via public transportation, with Muni bus
lines #30 Stockton, #45 Union, and #47 Van Ness located within a few
blocks of campus.

What is the refund policy?
Refund requests must be made in writing to publiceducation@sfai.edu.
For courses that meet for ten sessions or more, a 100% refund minus a
$20 processing fee is given if written notice is received at least
five business days before the first class. After five business days
before the first class, an 80% refund minus a $20 processing fee is
given when written notice is received prior to the third class. _No
refund is given after the class has met three times. Please allow two
to three weeks to receive your refund._
For courses that meet for six sessions or fewer, a 100% refund minus a
$20 processing fee is given when written notice is received at least
