IMAGE/OBJECT/LANGUAGE  Zachary Sumner Schomp 10 sessions >> Wednesdays, January 29 - April 1  6:00-9:00PM, 16A, $480Utilizing new photographs, found/family images, objects, ephemera and text, students will create a cohesive body of work beyond a singular medium. In this course we will explore the relationship of images and objects, and learn how the different mediums influence one another. The goal of this class is to wrestle with an idea, allowing the language of the concept to be guided by experimentation. Students are expected to make pictures and objects, as well as dig and excavate their archive, moving between maker and archivist. The class will also investigate ways artists have combined mediums to influence what they are trying to convey.  ____ ZACK SUMNER SCHOMP is a visual artist living and working in Oakland, CA. Schomp received his BFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and his MFA in Studio Arts from Mills College. He currently teaches at CSU East Bay and De Anza College. Schomp’s work moves between isolation and a willingness to share, believing that within this world of chaos are moments which remind us we are not alone. He works with traditionally printed media, digital printing, projection and sculpture. Schomp assists and manages studios for artists in the Greater Bay Area and has printed for major exhibitions and museum collections. He was recently the recipient of the Hung Liu Award, recognising excellence in studio practice for his MFA exhibition. http://www.zacksumnerphotography.com/ [http://www.zacksumnerphotography.com/] ------------------------- _PLEASE NOTE: Public Education courses are held contingent on a minimum enrollment, which is determined two business days prior to a class start date.
