Join MCCSF for a fun night at the theatre as we go to see "Fun Home"!
Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Fun Home is the
comically candid story of Alison Bechdel as she tries to understand
her dysfunctional relationship with her father, a deeply closeted and
mercurial funeral director. Based on the best-selling graphic memoir,
the past and present blend together in this tender and surprisingly
hilarious testament to the complicated nature of family. Tickets are
$60 through May 17th, 2020, and $70 on May 18th, 2020 and later, so
buy early! We will have hors d'oeuvres before the show, cash bar, a
50/50 raffle, and a giveaway of 4 tickets to a future show at NCTC.
Doors open at 7:00, show starts at 8:00. Music by Jeanine Tesori Book
and Lyrics by Lisa Kron Based on the Graphic Novel by Alison Bechdel
Directed by Arturo Catricala Proceeds will benefit the general fund of
the Metropolitan Community Church of San Francisco, located at 1300
Polk Street. The Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community
Churches was founded 50 years ago to be a church home for the LGBTQ+
community, and MCCSF was founded 2 years later. During the height of
the AIDS epidemic we held funerals when no other churches would, and
we have always held same sex marriage ceremonies. Today we continue to
serve the LGBTQ+ community - we are all loved and valued by God for
who we are, NOT in spite of who we are.
