Jazz@The ATLAS IS THE LONG-running weekly FREE jazz event, featuring 8
bands in rotating residency. The genres include classic 1950s jazz,
swing jazz, be-bop, hard bop, experimental, original tunes, and
jams. Jazz@The ATLAS SPECIALIZES IN UNKNOWN BANDS FEATURING
EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD PERFORMERS. These are often new groups just
starting out or long established bands working on new material, and
sometimes just musician friends getting together to play. There are
two sets, usually 8 to 9 and 9 to 10pm. FAQs Are there ID or
minimum age requirements to enter the event? All ages are welcome, and
there is a toy box for kids outside in the patio. The ATLAS IS A
CAFE SERVING LOCAL BEERS AND WINES IN ADDITION TO COFFEE DRINKS,
soups, salads, and sandwiches. What are my transportation/parking
options for getting to and from the event? Free street parking usually
within 2 blocks. The 12-Folsom and 27-Bryant buses stop 2 blocks away
and run between Bernal Heights, downtown, North Beach, and Pacific
Heights. What can I bring into the event? If you're a musician
you might bring a small instrument and see if you can sit in for a
tune with the band. Nothing guaranteed, but musicians often do this.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions? The most-asked
question is "Can you book my band?" With our residency program, each
of the 8 bands plays a particular Thursday or Friday the same week
each month. There usually are no openings because of this guaranteed
rotation. However, for other questions, contact
davidkayepromo@yahoo.com.
