Some drawing experience highly recommended. Models in the Young Artist Program are clothed or in bathing suit attire.
This introductory class to drawing the figure will cover working with a variety of media including charcoal, graphite, conte, watercolor, and gouache. Working from live models, students will begin by immersing themselves in basic gesture drawing techniques focusing on anatomical structures, balance, proportion, and drawing the flesh. The class will then explore composition, lighting, mood, and concept through in-class assignments, hands-on demonstrations, information critique sessions, and discussions that will examine contemporary and historical artists working with the figure.
