The MILL VALLEY Fall Arts FESTIVAL (MVFAF) is honored to participate
in February’s FIRST TUESDAY ARTWALK WITH THE PRESENTATION OF WE ARE
HERE, a community art project led by artist Robert Louthan at the 2025
MILL VALLEY Fall Arts FESTIVAL.
The completed artwork will be on display at the Aquatics and Fitness
Center Gallery at the Mill Valley Community Center (180 Camino Alto)
beginning Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as part of the First Tuesday
Artwalk festivities. MVFAF will host a public reception with snacks
and beverages from 5:30–7:30 PM, and the mural will remain on view
until April 26, 2026.
We Are Here was created during the 2025 Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival
as a fully inclusive, hands-on community art experience. Anyone who
could hold a paintbrush was invited to help bring Samantha Ferro’s
2025 MVFAF poster art to life. The large-scale mural featured a
ready-to-paint line drawing of Ferro’s Map of Mill Valley, allowing
festival visitors of all ages and abilities to make connections and
contribute their own color and creativity. The exhibit will also
include Louthan’s photography of the mural-making process.
Artist Robert Louthan, a fine artist, muralist, and educator, is
passionately committed to uplifting communities through collaborative,
arts-based programming. Born in San Francisco, raised in Pacifica, and
now based in Corte Madera, Louthan draws inspiration from the dynamic
nature of the Bay Area. His studio practice and public artwork
celebrate the depth and beauty of the shared human experience. The
mural is available for purchase, and proceeds will help fund the MILL
VALLEY Fall Arts FESTIVAL’s next community arts project. Email
inquiries to friends@mvfaf.org.
The Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival is proud to continue its mission of
fostering connection, creativity, and community through the arts by
sharing this collaborative project with the broader public. Since its
inception in 1957 by a small group of artists exhibiting in downtown
store windows, the Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival has grown into a
cherished annual event. Recognized as the "Best Art Festival of Marin"
and "Best Community Event in Southern Marin," the festival has evolved
into a cornerstone of the regional arts scene.
