Join The Watershed Project for a special evening celebrating 50 years
of COASTAL PROTECTION IN CALIFORNIA AND LOOKING AHEAD TO THE WORK WE
CAN DO TOGETHER TO PROTECT OUR LOCAL SHORELINES AND WATERWAYS.In honor
of the 50th anniversary of the California Coastal Act, we’ll be
screening the California Coastal Commission’s documentary about the
history of coastal protection in California. The film explores the
movement that led to the creation of the California Coastal Commission
and the Coastal Act in 1976, highlighting the people, communities, and
environmental battles that shaped California’s approach to
protecting its coast. It’s a story about how everyday people came
together to stand up for public access, healthy coastal ecosystems,
and the long-term protection of California’s shoreline.
Following the screening, we’ll hear from a panel of local
environmental advocates and community leaders about the work happening
right here in Richmond and throughout our local watersheds. Panelists
will share what they’re doing to protect our shorelines, waterways,
and communities, and answer questions about how we can all play a role
in caring for our local environment.
This event is all about getting our community excited for Coastal
Cleanup Day! On September 19th, The Watershed Project will host
cleanups at Shimada Friendship Park, Wildcat Creek, and the Albany
Bulb, bringing neighbors together to take action for our local
waterways. Coastal Cleanup Day is about more than picking up trash-
it’s a chance to connect with your community, protect the places we
call home, and make a direct impact on the health of our shorelines
and watersheds. We hope this evening inspires you to join us on
September 19th!
Doors open at 6:45 PM on August 26th at the Bridge Storage, Arts, and
Events Center.
???? Popcorn and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided for free.
???? Beer and wine will be available for purchase.
Your ticket supports Coastal Cleanup Day! Proceeds from ticket sales

year’s cleanup events. For those who want to make an extra
contribution, choose the “$50 for 50 years” ticket option- your

efforts.
Come watch, learn, ask questions, and get inspired to join us in
protecting our coast and local waterways!
