BLUE 7 GALLERY hosts a reception for “ORDINARY INTO EXTRAORDINARY”
on Sunday MARCH 18TH FROM 2:00pm to 5:00pm. The group exhibition will
feature talented artists from the Blue 7 collective, in addition to
guest artists.Special guest Ray Ford will be featured as part of this
exhibition. An accomplished wood carver, Ford has been creating art
for over 85 years. He received a pocket knife for his birthday at just
5 years old…the artist took to wood carving right away. Now at 90
years old, he is always looking for new ways to create
outside-the-box. When asked which of the techniques he uses to create
his work is his favorite, he replied, “I like to enhance wood
turnings with burning techniques.” The artist looks for unusual ways
to create the desired effect. He has now added the Lichtenberg
technique to his arsenal.
Ford admits he does have limitations…such as not being able to stand
too long. But he is not in a rush. He creates each work with patience
and love. Each piece is completely original. Ford has exhibited in
local galleries such as Fab-GALLERY, the SANTA MONICA Art Studios and
just last month at Ivan GALLERY. For additional info about Ray Ford,

Artist Vicki Fisher-Lerer has been creating art most of her
life…”I started at a young age, studied privately through high
school, received a BA in Fine Art from Indiana University and
haven’t stopped creating since.” She has been exhibiting her
work since the early 80’s in Northern California. “I have an
interest in all mediums and find it exciting learning a new technique:
creating and incorporating it into a new piece of work.”
Fisher-Lerer said she enjoyed creating her work Encaustic by the Sea,
which was inspired by walks at the beach in SANTA MONICA. “I am
fascinated with the movement and colors of the ocean and sky.”

“I was one of the first members of the BLUE 7 GALLERY,” said
artist Lisa Wald. She took her first art class ten years ago, and was
hooked. She has been painting ever since. “I only work in oils and I
typically paint on canvas or linen panels.” Wald will be exhibiting
four pieces in the group show all animals. The works were inspired by
a trip to an animal sanctuary. http://www.lisawald.net
