Feathers Fur and Scales - Los Gatos, CA 2026

"Step into the world of animals and discover what their bodies can tell us about how they live! Campers explore zoology by looking closely at the structures that help animals survive—on the outside and on the inside. Throughout the week, campers investigate real specimens and models as they compare fur, feathers, scales, claws, teeth, and bones. They’ll match body parts to functions like eating, moving, staying warm, or staying safe, and play hands-on games that test how different adaptations work in different habitats. Campers will build simple “animal toolkit” models, sort evidence like a scientist, and practice describing what they observe using clear, kid-friendly vocabulary. By the end of camp, learners will understand that structures support survival and will strengthen observation, comparing, and scientific explaining skills. Campers will also meet YSI’s live animal ambassadors to get an up-close look at how animals are built for survival."
