WORLD WATER MONITORING CHALLENGE - West Valley Elementary School,
SUNNYVALE Come learn about the WATERSHED IN WHICH YOU LIVE, how
WATERSHEDS WORK, and what you can do to protect important creek
habitat! You will have the opportunity to test the quality of WATER IN
STEVENS CREEK USING SIMPLE EQUIPMENT AND THROUGH A BIOMONITORING
ACTIVITY, which are easy and fun to carry out. Looking at which
aquatic bugs live in this part of the creek can tell US how clean the
WATER IS - finding too many pollution tolerant bugs could mean a
pollution problem. This is a great activity for young families,
students looking for volunteer hours, and community members who are
just curious about their local creek. This event is rain or shine,
unless otherwise notified. Waivers/Registration: All participants
must register & approve the online waiver through this Eventbrite
page. Youth under 18 must have their legal guardian approve the waiver
on their behalf. Volunteers under the age of 13 must be accompanied by
an *****. Parking: There is plenty of parking at the school and on
the street. Prepare for the Outdoors: Sturdy close-toed shoes that can
get dirty Hat/sunscreen or rain gear/boots Plan for potential exposure
to sun No experience is necessary! Grassroots Ecology encourages
