Training at the Wilshire Community Police Station in Los Angeles

29 and MARCH 1, 6, 7 of 2020 SCHEDULE: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Content:
History of domestic violence Dynamics of domestic violence Cultural
aspects of domestic violence Effect on children Senior abuse Domestic
violence towards people with disabilities Interpersonal violence in
the LGBTQ+ community Profile of the aggressor Trauma and mental health
Psychological therapies / support groups Medical implications Crisis
intervention Domestic violence and immigration Civil and criminal laws
related to domestic violence Confidentiality Attitudes of society and
revictimization Public assistance and other community and financial
resources After completing the 40-hour training, each participants
will receive a certificate of completion. This training course meets
the requirements under California Code 1037.1 as a domestic violence
counselor. Domestic violence can have severe effects on the victim and
his family. The victim of violence can develop emotional problems,
usually anxiety or depression, trouble sleeping or nightmares, and
even feelings of guilt, frustration, and anger. Casa de la Familia is
dedicated to helping these victims, as well as their families. Our
team works closely with the community and other mental health
professionals to ensure that victims of domestic violence have access
to available services. Please note: Lunch is not included in
registration fees.
