I'm really looking forward to the return of Jazz Nights at the LA County Museum of Art. The opening night performers will be Bill Holman's Big Band. Since my father was a sax player in a big band (Dick Jurgens and his orchestra) I have a nostalgic fondness for this music.
Usually, the band stage is just behind the iconic street lights at Ogden and Wilshire. I suggest we hang out on the lawn just north of the "Schmidt Welcome Plaza." Let's share some snacks, and it is also fine to bring alcoholic beverages in "quantities appropriate for personal consumption."

Celebrate L.A.’s finest jazz musicians! Jazz at LACMA is presented Friday evenings from April to November.
NEA Jazz Master and multi-Grammy Award-winning composer and arranger Bill Holman brings his legendary Big Band to open the 2019 Jazz at LACMA concert series. With a career spanning nearly seven decades, Holman has written for the Stan Kenton Orchestra, Charlie Barnet Orchestra, Peggy Lee, Michael Buble, the WDR Big Band, and the Metropole Orchestra, along with countless film, television, and recording projects.
Hope you can make it for this evening of music!
