The "Lisa Nelson's Mustang Stampede 5K Run/Walk" takes place at
Ralston Valley High School in Arvada, Colorado. The purpose of this 5K
Run/Walk is to unify the local community in commemoration of Lisa
Nelson's life and to raise funds for college scholarships in her name;
scholarships that specifically target Ralston Valley and Jefferson
County student athletes. Lisa was a physical education teacher and
head volleyball coach at Ralston Valley High School from 2000-2013.
She lost her life on March 3rd 2013 after a two-year battle with
cervical cancer. She was forty-three. Lisa touched many lives
during her battle and during her thirteen-year tenure as a teacher and
coach. After her passing, the “Lisa Nelson Memorial Scholarship”
was established. Each year a Ralston Valley High School male and
female student-athlete is awarded a college scholarship in memory of
her. In addition the scholarship board also awards one "at large"
scholarship to a Jefferson County Student Athlete that participates in
the 5K and applies for the scholarship. This event is incredibly
important to the Ralston Valley community, the Nelson & Schamp family,
and the scholarship it supports. Your participation will help bring
our community together and provide the financial support needed to
ensure the future success of the 5K and the scholarship itself. Join
us on Saturday, September 14, 2019 for a picturesque fall run/walk
in northwest Arvada and help us raise funds for Ralston Valley and
Jefferson County college bound students. Event details and schedule
