DENVER’s New BUILDING & Fire Code AMENDMENTS: What OWNERS NEED TO
KNOW - A Colorado Business Roundtable event presented by ACEC Colorado
As you may know, the Denver Building & Fire Code
[https://www.denvergov.org/content/denvergov/en/denver-development-services/help-me-find-/building-codes-and-policies.html]
establishes the minimum, mandatory standards for BUILDING CONSTRUCTION
IN DENVER, based on international standards for safe, habitable
structures. On Dec. 23, 2019, DENVER ADOPTED AN updated building and
fire code
[https://www.denvergov.org/content/dam/denvergov/Portals/696/documents/Denver_Building_Code/2019-code-update/2019_final_amendments.pdf]
based on the 2018 series of base codes from the International Code
Council (ICC) [https://www.iccsafe.org/]. The new building code also
includes a “Denver Green Code” designed to encourage more
sustainable design and construction practices. As part of the local
business community, you are invited to learn more about how these
changes will affect the buildings you own, manage or develop.
A representative from City & County of Denver, as well as experts in
the consulting engineering and building industry, will offer an
overview of Denver’s process in adopting the new code followed by a
targeted discussion with Q&A on the changes that could impact you the
most. Stay after the program to enjoy refreshments while networking
with the speakers during a reception! This event is part of Colorado
Engineers Week 2020 (Feb. 16-22).
