We are excited to introduce you to CAFE180! CAFE180 started when two
friends met for lunch at SAME Cafe [https://www.soallmayeat.org/]in
Denver. Julie Mihevc and Catherine Clements had planned to talk about
creating transitional housing in Englewood. But they became enthralled
with the SAME Cafe [https://www.soallmayeat.org/] concept: Anyone
can eat, regardless of their ability to pay. Those who are unable to
pay simply exchange their time and energy for a nutritious meal.
Already aware of the needs of the South Broadway community in
Englewood, the pair knew bringing great food would provide the “hand
up” this neighborhood needed.Together with Cafe 180 we are offering
four dates to volunteer during November and December. The commitment
is just 2 hours and volunteers will get a great hands-on experience
learning about the cafe, its mission and who it serves. Kids are
welcome to volunteer on their own, or along with a parent. Be prepared
to dive into a variety of needs that the cafe has during the lunch
hour. Volunteers are welcome to stay and enjoy a free lunch
afterwards!
If you are unable to participate in one of these dates, or if you just
want to do more to help Cafe180 continue to bring great meals to
anyone in need, please consider donating money to buy a Sam's Club
gift card. The cafe spends $300 weekly at Sam's for groceries. Our
goal is to provide Cafe180 with a $300 Sam's Club gift card in
December.
Suggested donation for volunteer participants is $10/person. Can be
brought to the event or donated through eventbrite at point of rsvp.
