After making history with the PHANTASM franchise, writer/producer/director Don Coscarelli gave the genre film world yet another midnight movie gem in the form of the horror-comedy BUBBA HO-TEP. Elvis Presley (Bruce Campbell, EVIL DEAD) wastes away in a nursing home. Jack (Ossie Davis, DO THE RIGHT THING), Elvis’s companion, has delusions that he is JFK. Embittered by old age and annoyed by his nurses treating him like a helpless child, Elvis is rejuvenated when he and Jack set forth to battle an evil mummy that is feeds on the other residents. Full of demented fun, BUBBA HO-TEP has that Coscarelli touch of sublime outrageousness and features Campbell in yet another role-of-a-lifetime.
