Right now, our healthcare system is under threat by a Trump administration which is trying to cut Medicaid by 35% in the next 20 years, causing 23 million people to lose their health coverage by 2026. Across the country, Americans have begun to counter this threat with disruptive direct action. There have been sit-ins, protests, and vigils organized throughout the country, with many more to come in the next few weeks. This fight to save our healthcare reveals not only the importance of having access to health insurance but the burden and fear that comes with losing it. Even in our current system, MILLIONS OF AMERICANS ARE BEING LEFT BEHIND, and the time has come for all of us to stand together and demand more. With the repeal of the flawed and partially defunded ACA on the horizon, and the abhorrent plans to replace it with something that is not care, but a tax cut for the wealthy, it's time to let Congress know we wish to have health care for all people like all other modern industrialized nations. We are a collective of everyday Americans, taking the streets to demand that access to quality care be expanded to all people regardless of income. We chant “healthcare is a human right” as we shut down business as usual in the fight to save our lives.
