Francisco will discuss the history and accomplishments of the ARECIBO OBSERVATORY, the scientific and cultural reasons for building a new telescope of even greater capabilities, and the technical and engineering plans that have been developed to date. The Powell Auditorium is located at 2170 Florida Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20008.
