professionals panel: Moderated by Suneel Grover, SAS Advisory
Solutions Architect and Professor in Practice at GWSB Suneel Grover is
an Advisory Solutions Architect supporting digital intelligence,
marketing analytics and multi-channel marketing at SAS. By providing
client-facing services for SAS in the areas of predictive analytics,
digital analytics, visualization and data-driven integrated marketing,
Grover provides technical consulting support in industry verticals
such as media, entertainment, hospitality, communications, financial
services and sports. In addition to his role at SAS, Grover is an
professorial lecturer at The George Washington University (GWU) in
Washington DC, teaching in the Masters of Science in Business
Analytics graduate program within the School of Business and Decision
Science. Grover has a MBA in Marketing Research & Decision Science
from The George Washington University (GWU), and a MS in Integrated
Marketing Analytics from New York University (NYU). Jason Houghton
MSBA '18 Jason is an analytics Manager with Deloitte's federal
government practice. He specializes in building teams to deliver
customized visualization applications to modernize the analytic
capabilities of federal clients. Jason began is career in the US
Navy as a division head onboard the USS ANZIO (CG 68) and then as a
contracts manager at the Office of Special Projects. He is currently
still serving in the US Navy Reserves at the Defense Logistics Agency.
A native of Raleigh, NC, Jason currently lives in Washington, DC with
his wife, Ashley. He is a graduate of The George Washington
University's MS in Business Analytics program. He also has an MBA
from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and BA in Public
Relations from North Carolina State University. Nisha Iyer MSBA '16
Nisha has 5+ years in the data science industry. She started her
career as a communications major and completed her MSBA at GW in 2016.
During her MSBA, she was working full time and transitioned to a data
science role at Booz Allen. She then move to Discovery Communications
and managed a data science team there, on the digital side of the
company. She has experience working with large and small teams,
starting a data science team from the ground up and leading teams.
Currently, she is the Director of Data Science at Data Society, a data
science training and consulting firm. She loves the field and is
passionate about spreading data science literacy across industries!
Jorge Del Pino MSBA '16 Jorge is the Lead Data Scientist in the HR
Business Analytics team of the International Finance Corporation
(IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. As an HR data
scientist, he identifies workforce trends, provides insights into the
effectiveness of HR programs, and improves decision making related to
attraction, engagement and retention of the organization’s talent.
Jorge holds an MS in Business Analytics from the George Washington
University and a BS in Business Administration from Babson College.

Presentations: Artificial Intelligence and IoT: The Winning Combo New
data types and increasing volumes of Internet of Things (IoT) data
will outpace traditional data processing and standard analytic
techniques. There is a tremendous need for the use of advanced
analytic algorithms and methodologies along with embedded AI to
tackle, understand, and process the wider range of data types and
increasing volumes of IoT data to derive meaningful business insights.
This session will focus on key aspects of AI as it pertains to IoT and
a few customer stories across these domains. Presenter: Diana Shaw,
SAS Diana Shaw is the SAS Global Technology Practice Americas
Artificial Intelligence Manager. She leads a team of data scientists
creating tangible AI applications and enabling others to effectively
leverage SAS technologies for advanced analytics, machine learning,
natural language processing, forecasting, streaming analytics. Diana
has spent the last 19 years mining data, troubleshooting problems,
developing technical solutions including streaming IoT solutions. She
is a true practitioner with a penchant for solving complex business
problems throughout the entire analytics life cycle. Diana has a
bachelor’s in metallurgical engineering, an MBA and a master’s in
analytics. Her experience spans steelmaking, automotive manufacturing,
bridge construction, building controls, and banking. Visualizing Big
Data using SAS Viya for Learners Data visualization tools have
revolutionized the accessibility and availability of organizational
knowledge. Compelling visualizations deliver objective recommendations
and drive organizational decision-making in efficient and effective
ways, but the typical KPI’s and usual analyses might not be enough.
Organizations and individuals can dive deep into big data and benefit
from the flexibility of collaborative, high-performance, big data
analytical tools that synthesize big data exploration and deeper
analyses with standard reporting and dashboarding. This session will
unveil how SAS® Viya for Learners integrates big data analytical
muscle into accessible and engaging visualizations that answer
questions organizations already need to know and that drive the desire
to explore big data, to challenge assumptions, and to democratize
analytics. Presenter: Angela Fullenkamp, Analytical Training
Consultant, SAS Angela Fullenkamp is an Analytical Training Consultant
within the SAS Global Academic Program. Angela received both her B.S.
and M.S. in Mathematical Sciences with an emphasis in Statistics from
Clemson University. Before joining SAS, Angela taught mathematics and
statistics courses in academia at both the college and high school
level. As part of the Global Academic Program at SAS, Angela provides
consulting around the country to universities, community colleges, and
high schools by teaching educators and students how to use SAS
software and how to integrate it into their courses and projects. WWF
and SAS: Applications of analytics in fundraising WWF and SAS have
partnered together since 2003. In that time, WWF has embraced various
SAS programs and procedures in its goal to improve the efficiency of
its fundraising efforts. This presentation will give an overview of
analytics at WWF and detail sample projects where WWF has utilized SAS
solutions. Topics will include predictive modeling, website data
collection and experience personalization, and real-time reporting.
Presenter: Mac Mirabile, Director of Analytics, World Wildlife Fund
McDonald Mirabile is the Director of Analytics at the World Wildlife
Fund, one of the world’s largest conversation organizations.
McDonald manages a team of four data scientists tasked with applying
analytics and predictive modeling to WWF’s fundraising efforts in
channels such as direct response mail, email, online advertising,
direct response television, and face to face. McDonald holds
undergraduate degrees in both Economics and Journalism from Auburn
University and a Master’s degree in Economics from UNC-Chapel Hill.
In his spare time, McDonald is a passionate wildlife photographer,
most recently traveling to Katmai NP (Alaska) to photograph Grizzly
bears.
