Congratulations and welcome to Georgetown! As a new employee, you will play an integral role in advancing the university mission of Jesuit education, innovative research, and service.

NEO is the university-wide employee orientation session coordinated by the Department of Human Resources and the Office of Faculty and Staff Benefits. You will have the opportunity to meet fellow new employees, learn about the first steps in our onboarding process, gain an understanding of Georgetown's Jesuit values and traditions, and discover a variety of key campus resources. This orientation also includes an optional overview of your staff benefits and how to make your benefits elections. Light breakfast, water, and coffee will be provided.

Please be sure to read the information below carefully prior to your first day. If you have questions or need additional information, please send an email to hrtraindev@georgetown.edu. We look forward to welcoming you to the university and providing you with tools to support a meaningful work-life balance.

NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION REGISTRATION PROCESS

How to Register: All new employees are welcomed to register directly on this page by clicking "register" and filling out the requested information. You may register with a personal email address if you do not have access to your GU NETID. If so, please prepare to bring a valid ID.

Next Orientation: If you cannot attend this orientation, the next "NEO" can be found on our Eventbrite homepage. However, we encourage you to attend orientation on your first day to have the most beneficial experience.

GETTING YOUR NETID/UNIVERSITY INFORMATION SERVICES (UIS)

This is a unique identifier used for email and other electronic services. You can find your NetID by visiting the Georgetown University Directory at http://contact.georgetown.edu and entering your name. Please note that your NETID may not be active prior to your first day of work - do not worry if this is the case. We will review steps to accessing your NETID at orientation. Once your NETID is activated, you will need to create a password. Please contact UIS at (202)-687-4949 or visit https://uis.georgetown.edu/new-to-georgetown for assistance.

GETTING YOUR GOCARD

This is Georgetown University's official employee identification card. Once your NetID is activated, bring a photo ID to the GOCard Office (located in the Leavey Center Campus Bookstore as indicated by the Yellow STAR on the campus map below) to receive a card. This card allows access to the Georgetown University Transportation System (GUTS) and the library. It will also regulate access to restricted buildings and offices. The card may be used as a campus debit card and to make purchases on campus, which we will discuss at NEO. Employees may elect to enroll in the GOCard Direct Deposit Program and receive a 1% bonus deposit for every payroll deposit. For more information visit GOCard.georgetown.edu.

GETTING TO ORIENTATION (TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS)

Georgetown University is accessible for faculty, staff, students, and visitors through many transportation options. Learn more here: https://transportation.georgetown.edu/

Orientation is located in the Healey Family Student Center or "HFSC" (14 on provided campus map) Main Campus in Georgetown, on the corner of Library Walk and Tondorf Rd. You can click on the provided hyperlink to see where the building is located on campus. HFSC is often confused with Healey Hall (27) but they are different buildings.

GU SHUTTLE BUS: Georgetown offers a free shuttle system (GUTS) to GU employees. Buses run on five routes, connecting the campus with Metro stations at Rosslyn (Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines) and Dupont Circle (Red Line), the Georgetown University Law Center, university offices on Wisconsin Avenue (2115 & Harris), and stops in Arlington, Virginia

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION (recommended): Georgetown is easily accessible via public transportation, such as the DC Circulator GU-Union Station or Dupont-Rosslyn routes, and the WMATA bus system. You may use the WMATA trip planner to determine which bus is most convenient for you.

RIDE-SHARE: Due to campus construction, many of the main roads are not accessible for ride-sharing such as Uber or Lyft. If you choose to ride-share, we recommend dropping off at either 1) Reservoir Rd and 37th St, or  2) 37th St and O, where the university entrance is located

DRIVING: Should you choose to drive to campus, please review parking at Georgetown details at the provided link. Note that the daily visitor rate is $25.00 a day or $5.00 an hour.

We recommend familiarizing yourself with the walking campus map provided below. The bright Yellow line represents the current walking path from Reservoir Rd and 37th St.  The red line represents the walking path from 37th and O St, where the Georgetown entrance is located. The red STAR represents the Healey Family Student Center, the location for orientation. View this on our digital campus map here: http://maps.georgetown.edu/id=999&mrkIid=244484!m/244484
