EDX [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/edx-mn0000514963] is the moniker
of Maurizio Colella
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/maurizio-colella-mn0001063225], who
has been producing and spinning tuneful, summery house tracks since
the mid-'90s. Born in Zurich, Switzerland to Italian parents, he
started getting into house music during the '90s, looking up to
American producers such as David Morales
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/david-morales-mn0000216986] and Armand
Van Helden
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/armand-van-helden-mn0000928160], as
well as British DJs like Carl Cox
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/carl-cox-mn0000174470]. Initially
active as a DJ, he began releasing house tracks near the end of the
decade, often in collaboration with Leon Klein
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/leon-klein-mn0001538674], on labels
such as Energetic Records and Club Control. EDX
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/edx-mn0000514963] released several
mix CDs on Energetic (both solo and with Klein
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/klein-mn0001538674]), usually as part
of the Evolution and Energy series. Around 2005, EDX
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/edx-mn0000514963] went on a brief
hiatus, but he returned in 2007, shifting to more of a progressive
house sound, rather than more traditional house. He remixed tracks
by Dubfire
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/dubfire-mn0000211459], Deadmau5
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/deadmau5-mn0000879144], and Armin
van Buuren
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/armin-van-buuren-mn0000502989], and
he released numerous singles on PinkStar and Toolroom Records, among
other labels. He launched a popular radio show/podcast titled No
Xcuses, and held a residency at Ibiza superclub Space in 2011. Armada
released EDX [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/edx-mn0000514963]'s
double mix CD No Xcuses - The Violet Edition
[https://www.allmusic.com/album/no-xcuses-the-violet-edition-mw0002195754] in
2011. The following year, EDX
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/edx-mn0000514963]'s debut
full-length, On the Edge, was released, followed two years later by a
remix album. Subsequent singles appeared on disco:wax and Spinnin'
Records, and EDX
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/edx-mn0000514963] remixed songs
by Robin Schulz
[https://www.allmusic.com/artist/robin-schulz-mn0003162844], Sam
Feldt [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/sam-feldt-mn0003349606],
