The NORTHWEST FLORIDA ADVANCED CITIZEN CORPS ACADEMY IS A
TWO-and-a-half-day training conference centered around readiness,
response, and recovery efforts in relation to the threats of
terrorism, crime, public health issues, storms, and disasters of all
kinds. This program will provide volunteers with a well-rounded and
robust training consisting of seminars and hands-on exercises relating
to National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command
System (ICS), medical triage, disaster psychology, first aid,
counterterrorism, active shootings, communication systems,
disabilities and functional need support services, and more...
We have numerous instructors from across Northwest Florida that will
be presenting:

Additionally, there will be a field exercise on the final day that
will encompass all that was learned during the ACADEMY. The field
exercise will simulate an EXTREME WIND EVENT. There will be
approximately 40 volunteers moulaged as “disaster survivors.” The
attendees will be responsible for conducting proper search and rescue
techniques, developing a triage area, administering first aid and
psychological first aid to the “disaster survivors,” and
coordinating logistics using two-way radios, all while following the
Incident Command System.
