Bas Fisher Invitational is partnering with Miami Music Club to
present HOGG and Brett Naucke, two musical acts from Chicago. Joining
them will be local Miami outfits POORGRRRL and eDad. Miami Music Club,
a nomadic space for music and performance, has curated this diverse
bill for the mental and spiritual benefit of those listeners committed
to sundry contemporary sounds.
As MMC and BFI are both nomadic platforms that build community in
Miami by staging site-specific visual and performing arts events, this
partnership is a long time coming. For this show, BFI will be
installing X,X,X a minimalist furniture object designed by Nun, that
will function as modular concert seating. X,X,X is an artwork and
installation designed to create a kind of mobile exhibition space for
BFI. It is rotated, disassembled and recomposed to reflect curated
programming that merges nightlife and domesticity.
Taking place at Mana Contemporary Miami, formerly the 777
International Mall, MMC and BFI will transform this commercial
space-turned-studio complex into a nightclub-turned-gallery. The show
will start at midnight and run till the witching hour. It will cost
$0.
_HOGG's latest release, "Self-Extinguishing Emission," is a swarm of
heavy electronics, chanting, droning drums and riffs. As menacing as
they are entrancing, HOGG (Emma Sims and Hanna Elliot) creeps through
halls haunted by the genres of industrial and metal.
BRETT NAUCKE IS A MUSICIAN WHO USES MODULAR SYNTHESIS AND FIELD
RECORDINGS TO DEVELOP MULTI-dimensional sonic spaces. His latest
release, The Mansion, is his second LP on Spectrum Spools. Rather than
songs or jams, NAUCKE IS A CONSUMMATE CREATOR OF ENVIRONMENTS.
POORGRRRL is a multi-media based collaboration between artists Tara
Long and Andrew Byrd. With their recent EP and zine release on [NAME],
POORGRRRL has ramped up their capacities in art rap moguldom, ambient
R&B production, and meta-trap.
eDad is the moniker of Edward Adames. This show marks the release of
"Cares," a tape on Miami label 2100. His first physical release since
he was the singer of 2000s cult experimental rock band Pygmy, eDad
will present his recent musical endeavors: a bricolage of vapor, IDM,
and UK Bass._
This programming is part of BFI's Knight Art Challenge Grant to
experiment with new models for presenting art through Nomadic Miami, a
series of roving exhibitions, performances, and programs in specific
locations determined by cutting-edge artists.
