Starting the week after Spring Break Surf Camp, our After School Camps
are designed to keep our campers in the water throughout the warmer
months of the year. Following the notion that Repetition Breeds
Success, after school campers get to work on their skills and strength
and become better surfers. The camps are held on Tuesday and Thursday
and generally will take place from 4:30 to 6:30, though times may
slightly vary due to Daylight Saving Time. In April, there will be 10
sessions. It should be mentioned that in addition to being open to
students at local schools, the After School camps could be especially
appealing to home-schooled students, giving them a great opportunity
to get great workouts while socializing with other kids. Similar to
our Surf Camp weeks, campers will view assorted instructional videos,
work on balance and strength and, of course, get a lot of water time
as they work to become better surfers, hopefully graduating from soft
top boards to fiberglass or epoxy boards. We expect a great instructor
to camper ratio that will help the more experienced surfers expand
their skills while the novices overcome any fear of the waves and
learn how to go 'down the line' after mastering paddling and pop-up
ability. We provide both soft top and fiberglass boards to campers
depending on their age and ability. We recommend that campers bring
sunscreen (not the spray variety), flip flops, a towel, a rash guard
and a water bottle. Those who already own a surfboard are welcome to
bring it as well. We'll be happy to store it during the week so they
don't have to take it back and forth every day.
