Description Getting a child involved in sports at an early age has
proven to help them develop social, interpersonal, and athletic
skills. That's why our Rookie Leagues is a great opportunity to
introduce your child to all the fun sports have to offer.
YMCA Rookie Sports is designed to introduce children to the basics of
sports in a fun and inviting environment. The leagues focuses on
teaching new skills and fundamentals of the sports while emphasizing
on learning, confidence building, socialization and most of all,
HAVING FUN! It is a 50/50 developmental style, which is half learning
and half play.
Rookie Leagues is not focused on winning or competing.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:
* Please bring a water bottle labeled with your child's name.
* Wear athletic and comfortable clothing for running.
* Close toed shoes are required.
* Basketball Ball: Size 3 (22")
* Shin Guards are REQUIRED for all practices and games.
* MUST be potty trained!
The program will run ONLY on Saturdays.
VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED! YMCA sports are based on seven guiding
principles: Everyone plays, safety first, fair play, positive
competition, sports for all, sports for fun, and family involvement.
Our sports are supported by parent volunteers, who are engaged as
coaches, referees, and raving fans.
The YMCA uses volunteer coaches to provide leadership to the community
through structured athletic activities. In person training sessions
will be held before the seaons and online training is also available.
YMCA staff guidance is provided throughout the season.
