Description At the Y, our Youth VOLLEYBALL FOR GIRLS AGES 8 TO 12
YEARS OLD FOCUSES ON DEVELOPING THE FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS OF VOLLEYBALL
WHILE TEACHING TEAMWORK, strategy, and sportsmanship. Participants
will have the opportunity to learn underhand serving, setting,
hitting, and digging. Meeting days have a pre-warm up before the game.
Program Requirements: Please have your child wear athletic clothes and
closed-toed shoes. Bring their own water bottle and VOLLEYBALL. Please
clearly label all items you send with your child. Knee pads are
strongly suggested, but not required. Spectators should bring a chair
to use when watching the practices. Please do not bring food into the
gym, and all liquids should be in a plastic bottle that have a secure
cap. VOLUNTEER COACHES & REFEREES ARE ALWAYS NEEDED! YMCA sports are
based on seven guiding principles: Everyone plays, safety first, fair
play, positive competition, sports for all, sports for fun, and family
involvement. Our sports are supported by parent volunteers who are
engaged as coaches, referees, and fans. The YMCA uses volunteer
coaches to provide leadership to the community through structured
athletic activities. In person training sessions will be held before
the seasons and online training is also available for all sports
offered. YMCA staff guidance is provided throughout the season. If you
are interested in volunteering, please contact Shannon Wynn, Sr.
Program Director at swynn@suncoastymca.org. For more information,
