Capture the Flag for Beginners
There’s nothing wrong with being a cyber n00b. Everyone starts their
quest somewhere. Our Capture the Flag for Beginners event is designed
specifically for individuals who are new to CTF and want to dive
headfirst into the cybersecurity game. Starting at the first level,
our instructor will help guide you through setup, navigating the
environment, and learning the basics of Capture the Flag—it’s like
hacking with training wheels!
Capture the Flag is an event where individuals and teams compete
against each other in a cybersecurity game that is full of puzzles to
solve. Our Cybersecurity CTF environment contains four different
domains: Linux, Application Security, Cryptography, and Stegonography.
Within each domain, there are multiple levels that build off of each
other. In order to get through Level 2, you’ll need information from
Level 1. The first level is the easiest to hack, with each level
getting progressively harder. Similar to golf, you can either compete
against yourself or against the other participants in the room. You
can work individually or as a team. It’s up to you!
Once you’ve mastered the beginner levels, you can spread your
hacking wings and fly confidently through the game system! Challenge
yourself by moving into our more difficult domains and you’ll hone
your skills in Linux, Cryptography, and more.
Join us for snacks, drinks, and cybersecurity fun. Bring a friend and
snag some swag!
This SecureSet event is eligible for 2 hours of CPE credit! Ask a
SecureSet staff member at the event if you would like to receive a CPE
certificate.
