From early paintings of the industrial landscape to the
reinterpretation of the developed place in expression of the self,
images of the man-made environment have been intertwined in our quest
for discourse through the photograph. This workshop will offer
participants an insight into the use of cityscapes in photography
and how the man-altered landscape can describe us as much as we are
describing it. Participants will be given a historical primer in the
landscape in man’s presence, shown a variety of interpretations of
the man-altered landscape, offered several uses of intent in
photographing the city, and encouraged to discover what they have to
say about the city itself.
