Register your daughter today for the TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING'S 16U TRAVEL
TOURNAMENT TEAM! Try-outs will be Saturday, August 18th from
10:15-11:45am at Florida Hospital Center Ice. There will also be a
parent meeting in the North Viewing Room from 12-12:30pm.
Practices will also be at Florida Hospital Center Ice on Tuesday
evenings from 7:45-8:45pm starting August 22nd.
Membership will include weekly practices and games, TBL alumni
appearances at practices and special opportunities throughout the
season to play at Amalie Arena where their heroes play. They will have
the opportunity to attend our Lightning Made Girl's Hockey Day and
Holiday Camp at a discounted rate. Girls will receive game and
practice jerseys as well as socks, along with the opportunity to
purchase additional apparel.
The girls will compete against other 16U girls teams throughout the
state of Florida and the US. The tournaments will include:
* Big Bear - Eye of the Storm - Tampa, FL - 10/5-7/2018
* CCM World Invite - Detroit, MI - 11/9-11/2018
* Wickfest - Tampa, FL - 12/28-30/2018
* Big Bear - Big Chill Ann Arbor, MI - 1/18-21/2018
* Big Bear- Dry Ice Raleigh, NC - 2/15-18/2018
* Sunshine Showcase - Tampa, FL - May, 2019
The cost of the season will be $1,500 which will not include airline
travel or hotel stays.
The team will be coached by Jennifer Danowitz. Jennifer is a USFSA,
ISI, ProSkaters, and USA Hockey member. She has 20 years of skating
experience in both ice hockey and figure skating. She skated
professionally with the internationally touring show Disney On Ice for
four years, and she was also Captain of the University of Connecticut
ACHA Division I/II ice hockey team. At UConn, Jennifer was nominated
to the All-American Team (2010), and additionally received the ACHA
National MVP Award (2010), UConn Outstanding Athlete Leader Award
(2009), and Academic All-American Awards (2009, 2010). Previous to
UConn, Jennifer played on the Chelmsford Girls hockey team in
Massachusetts. Jennifer has coached figure skaters, as well as hockey
players of all ages and abilities—from beginners to camps for high
school and Junior’s level players. Jennifer has a Master’s in
Education and Curriculum Design from Boston University, is a Teach for
America alum, and is currently a high school English teacher in
Hillsborough County. Jennifer also helped coach the Durant high school
hockey team last season.
